Perigueux 04/11/22

Today was a rainy day in Perigueux. I went to the major sites which were interesting. Turns out Perigueux was a major Roman installation, so now there are two old towns, a Roman one and a medieval one. Apparently there used to be an amphitheater that held 18,000 people in town! There is a well done museum with lot of the Roman ruins and artifacts, and then the medieval part has the cathedral and lots of markets running. Had an entertaining time at lunch with some of the market vendors at the next table. Here are various photos:

  1. I enjoyed the cultural notes about the Roman and Medieval cities. One of the shots looked like Polynesian shark tooth clubs collected on a voyage to the South Seas or even to Hawaii.
